Old and new next to each other - a circular tour through the past and present of Berlin’s city centre: Nicolaiviertel - where everything began, Schloßplatz >Castle square< with rebuild castle, Berlin Cathedral, Bebelplatz with memorial of the Nazis’ burning of books, State Opera, Gendarmenmarkt with Playhouse, German and French Cathedral, New Synagogue and Museums Island.

The Berlin Wall - history from its construction to its fall

Berlin - the Capital of Cold War Berlin was the hot pavement of the Cold War. Except in the devided town there was no other place in world where the interests of the United States of America und Soviet Union and their alliance partners bounded one upon another. For a long time Berlin seemed to be the realeading spark for the next worldwide nuclear war. We show you locations of crisisses, negotiations and friendships. Among other sights Airport Tempelhof, Checkpoint Charlie, Alliiertes Kontrollratsgebäude - formerly Allied Centre in Germany, former Centre of RIAS – (broadcasting in the american sector) and the townhall of Schöneberg.

The “Stasi” as a neighbour - where they´ve been established and why

Shading, controling, denouncing: the “Stasi” - short form for the state security services of the former German Democratic Republic - was nearly everywhere. Where they have been established? What they have done? We will seek some tracks in their huge ramified system. Among other sights Television -Tower/Alexanderplatz, Humboldt-University/Unter den Linden and more selected places in Berlin´s boroughs of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg.

 

The Airport Tempelhof

The former airport area is a huge field in the middle of Berlin. Since a couple of years it is known and populare as a place to spend the spare time. You`ve been there, know everthing?

From a drill ground, experimental area of the very first aeroplanes, airport up to the future planes of using the field as a new townquarter. We will discover comfortable by cycle the long history, the national and international importance of that field.
